Curious Learning Parents App Privacy Policy

We founded Curious Learning so every child could learn to read, regardless of their language or location. We know that privacy is important to our community, especially for children and their parents. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what we're doing to keep it safe.

Who This App is For

Curious Reader Parents is a free app from the nonprofit Curious Learning that helps children learn to read through offline phonics games and illustrated books. It's designed to be used by a parent or guardian together with a child, typically ages 4–10. This section explains what information Curious Reader Parents collects, how it's used, and how you can ask us to delete it.The App is intended for use by adult community literacy coaches. It is not directed at children, and children do not use this App. Coaches use the App to monitor learning activity in the Curious Reader app (a separate Curious Learning product) among the children they support.

What Curious Reader Parents does not do

Curious Reader Parents has no user accounts, no login, no password, and shows no ads of any kind. It does not request your location. It does not collect photos, camera data, or biometric information of any kind. It does not use an advertising identifier (like a device's Advertising ID) and cannot be used to track your child across other apps.

Notifications

With your permission, Curious Reader Parents can send a daily reminder to help build a reading habit. This is scheduled entirely on your device — no server is involved in deciding when to remind you — and you can turn it off at any time in Settings.

Anonymous usage data

To understand which languages and stories are actually helping children learn — and to know where our program is and isn't reaching families — Curious Reader Parents records anonymous usage information such as: which languages and games are used, how much time is spent in each, progress through the games, the country the app was installed in, and the date of install. This data is associated with a random ID that Curious Reader Parents generates for your installation of the app (not your name, email, or any account), and is sent to Curious Learning's own database (built on Google Firebase/Firestore and Google BigQuery) so our team can see program usage and improve the app. We do not sell this information.

Campaign measurement

Curious Learning runs advertising campaigns to reach more families, and we want to know whether those campaigns are working. To measure that, the app reports a small number of milestones — such as opening the app for the first time, or reaching a certain amount of play time — to Google and Meta (Facebook)'s advertising measurement tools. This measurement does not use an advertising identifier: we don't collect or share the Advertising ID (Android) or IDFA (iOS), so this data cannot be used to build a profile of your child or to track them across other apps or websites. It's used only to help us understand, in aggregate, whether our campaigns are effective — never to show ads inside Curious Reader Parents.

Requesting deletion of your data

You can ask us to delete the usage data associated with your installation at any time.

To do so:
1. Open Curious Reader Parents, go to Settings, and find your Device ID.
2. Email that Device ID to privacy@curiouslearning.orgwith the subject line "Delete my data.
3. "We'll confirm by email once your data has been deleted, typically within 30 days.

Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on your phone immediately, but does not by itself delete the anonymous usage record on our servers — please use the steps above for that. Because campaign-measurement data isn't tied to an advertising identifier, it also isn't tied to a specific record we can look up and delete on Google's or Meta's systems — those platforms only ever receive aggregate, non-identified milestone counts.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your coach profile data (name, phone number, location) by contacting us at the address below.
